I have been hiding from doing my race reports for all 2 of you who read my blog. I am sorry :( But the first Greenville training series week was fun. I accomplished both goals in my races: Top 10 at Donaldson Center with an 8th (first from field) by doing a late attack a la Voeckler although there were no motorbikes to draft off of. Then my goal for the crit was not a result or even to get some fitness in but simply: stay upright. I avoided that with a perfect cyclocross maneuver when a bunch of guys went down with 1 lap to go.
Round 2 of Greenville series:
Goal #1 for 75mile road race: My goal went from finish to survive when I heard Hincapie was racing. I survived for a little while but it was just one of those days that when you clip in and immediately know that it was gonna be a long day. Overnight I was freaking sick. Sunday I drove the follow vehicle for the pros and I had a lot of fun doing it. Handing up an allen key to a Time rider and trying to motor pace Boyd (i think) back to the field. Sorry Boyd if I accelerated to hard but nothing like a 1000 watt sprint, huh? Other then that it was uneventful.
But now for the big news. I went to the doctor yesterday to get tested. Nothing unusual I thought as the test went smoothly. But 15mins later as the doctor entered I could tell something was wrong by the look on her face. She said I failed the test. Okay maybe it is just a non-negative test. But she says I failed the test for not having flu which means I tested positive for flu. So I am sorry for those who I may get sick (or already sick) because it is probably my fault. As a result, I regretfully have accepted a week suspension from school. Instead I am forced to stay at home and eat girl scout cookies and sleep 14hrs. It is dreadful as I have a tough choice between eating Tag-a-longs or Thin Mints. I dont know when I will return but if SAD (School Anti-Doping agency) [I know I left off the "a" but SAD sounds better then SADA, just roll with it] will reduce my ban for my cooperation of who gave me the flu then I could be back soon.
That's all for now,
David
