Stuff

So I have been getting pretty hammered by school. I thought this senior thing would be a little easier but hey at least I dont have many days left. The only interesting thing about school is one of my friends (dont worry he will remain anonymous, due to this blog is about me jk jk) had a few *fake* $100 bills left over from his art project so in the hall at lunch, we always find creative ways to amuse ourselves, we "accidentally" left one $100 bill on the floor. About 15 secs later, an underclassman was walking by and she saw it and picked it up and examined it to see the amount and she screamed in delight. She ran off with her friends but we couldnt compose ourselves so yeah she figured it out and gave it back. But we got 8 more people and soon enough the whole senior hall was on the prank and we got just about every single sophomore, junior, freshmen, and even a staff member. I was so excited about the whole prank that I completly forgot about my lunch so I had to starve which wasnt cool because I remember my exact lunch consisted of a PBJ sandwhich (peter pan peanut butter), some cookies, cheez-its, and wait for it....a chocolate pudding snack pack!! (oh and an apple *yuck*)
Other then the whole school thing, I have been training. Spring Break came and went very fast. Didnt go streaking on the beach or anything just rode my bike and hung out with friends. I got a race coming up in Gainesville, GA. Watch out Georgia because I am going to be living there next year (more specifically Athens, GA). Why the move? Well the truth is I decided to morph myself into a crit racer and Athens is, after all, the prime crit location. I will train on the Athens crit course everyday for 2hrs until I win it (the amateur crit). Actually I am heading to Athens because I will be enrolling there next fall!

Livestrong Race

AJ and myself headed down to B'Ham, Alabama to race at Barber Motorsports Speedway. It was awesome as the course wasnt a typical oval but had a couple of tight turns one was a 180 and another a corkscrew turn. The race short only 9 laps of a 2.38 mile circuit but the crosswind across the course made it interesting. Like any other short race it went from the gun. But after two laps it was clear it was going to be a bunch sprint. I just followed wheels and didnt do any real attacking. A couple different breaks got off the front but never materialized a significant gap until with 2.5 laps to go two riders were off the front and one of the dudes in the break's teammates was riding on the front kinda easy. With one lap to go I saw them about 15 seconds off the front and attacked the peloton right before the 180 turn and bridged to them in the cross-head wind section. Then I look back to see what was going on and there is Olheiser and Winstead coming fast. But once our mini group was away we all kinda looked at each other so we were caught. Time for the sprint saw AJ in a good position 5th wheel with 500 meters to go. Sat at the back of the field just chilling and saw AJ take third so a good result for us for either one of us not being race fit.

Racing roundup and I tested positive. I am sorry

I have been hiding from doing my race reports for all 2 of you who read my blog. I am sorry :( But the first Greenville training series week was fun. I accomplished both goals in my races: Top 10 at Donaldson Center with an 8th (first from field) by doing a late attack a la Voeckler although there were no motorbikes to draft off of. Then my goal for the crit was not a result or even to get some fitness in but simply: stay upright. I avoided that with a perfect cyclocross maneuver when a bunch of guys went down with 1 lap to go.

Round 2 of Greenville series:
Goal #1 for 75mile road race: My goal went from finish to survive when I heard Hincapie was racing. I survived for a little while but it was just one of those days that when you clip in and immediately know that it was gonna be a long day. Overnight I was freaking sick. Sunday I drove the follow vehicle for the pros and I had a lot of fun doing it. Handing up an allen key to a Time rider and trying to motor pace Boyd (i think) back to the field. Sorry Boyd if I accelerated to hard but nothing like a 1000 watt sprint, huh? Other then that it was uneventful.

But now for the big news. I went to the doctor yesterday to get tested. Nothing unusual I thought as the test went smoothly. But 15mins later as the doctor entered I could tell something was wrong by the look on her face. She said I failed the test. Okay maybe it is just a non-negative test. But she says I failed the test for not having flu which means I tested positive for flu. So I am sorry for those who I may get sick (or already sick) because it is probably my fault. As a result, I regretfully have accepted a week suspension from school. Instead I am forced to stay at home and eat girl scout cookies and sleep 14hrs. It is dreadful as I have a tough choice between eating Tag-a-longs or Thin Mints. I dont know when I will return but if SAD (School Anti-Doping agency) [I know I left off the "a" but SAD sounds better then SADA, just roll with it] will reduce my ban for my cooperation of who gave me the flu then I could be back soon.

That's all for now,
David
